What is IPS e.Max?
IPS e.max is a monolithic lithium disilicate glass-ceramic, widely regarded as the finest all-ceramic alternative to metal-based restorations.
Because the material reproduces the natural translucency and shade depth of enamel, an e.max crown or veneer blends into the smile line in a way no other pressed or milled ceramic can match. That’s what makes it the material of choice for the esthetic zone.
Every e.max restoration we produce is available in all 16 Vita Classical shades plus bleach shades, with flexural strength of ~360 MPa milled and ~400 MPa pressed, enough to serve both anterior and posterior single units with confidence.

Choose e.max when esthetics lead the case: anterior crowns, veneers, and short bridges where translucency matters most. When strength leads, such as bruxers, long spans, or heavy posterior load, zirconia is the better fit.
Both, depending on the case. Pressed e.max reaches ~400 MPa and suits demanding esthetic work, while milled (~360 MPa) is efficient for standard crowns, inlays, and onlays. We select the method that serves the restoration best.
Yes. Single-unit posterior crowns are within e.Max's indication range with proper prep (1.5mm occlusal reduction). Bridges in the posterior, however, should go to zirconia.
